To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must:

• be a permanent resident and physically been in Canada for at least 3 of the last 5 years (1095 days).
• Not been outside Canada for more than a total of 730 days.
• Have no unfulfilled conditions related to your PR status
• have filed your taxes if you need to
• show how well you know Canada
• prove your language skills
• You may not be able to become a Canadian citizen if you are incarcerated, serving a sentence outside Canada, or have been charged with a criminal offence.
• Some eligibility requirements are different for minors (under age 18).
